Do You Think I'm a Bad Man? was a good episode that continued the gripping season-long storyline along with a new throwaway case but as the season goes on, it's easy to want more of the former.

Synopsis: After Michaela’s courtroom tactics do more harm than help, Annalise draws on memories of Sam to guide Michaela back to the winning path; Connor bites off more than he can chew in his effort to reunite a family. (IMDb)

The plot thickens in this week’s episode of How To Get Away With Murder, entitled Do You Think I’m a Bad Man?, as the tension between Michaela and Annalise is heightened further thanks to a certain reveal while Connor gets potentially implicated in Annalise’s future murder and Laurel sort of resurfaces.

The episode started with Michaela leading the clinic (presumably because of her altercation with Annalise near the end of last week’s episode) where their newest client was a poor African-American woman named Brandi Greene (Alexandra Grey) who was facing a laundry list of charges and hefty restitution after her husband was shot and killed by the police during an attempted robbery. Meanwhile, Bonnie went to C&G to try and get a job from Tegan (who has a wife but hadn’t filled divorce papers yet) but she could see that she was just there to spy on her for Nate (for which she would be right).

Connor took Hector (Oscar Daniel Reyez), the illegal immigrant child, across state lines to Maryland to see his mother Marisol and get her to sign some paperwork. He was under the impression that Hector’s social worker vouched for him which turned out to not be the case as he and Marisol were arrested by ICE (Connor called Oliver for help and he got Bonnie who tried to still use her former position as leverage). In court, Michaela got overzealous in trying to reduce her client’s restitution which led Brandi to lose her plea deal and gain a murder charge. Vivian joined the gallery to see Annalise in action and ask her for help (she wasn’t interested). Meanwhile, Frank confirmed that it was indeed Laurel who cleared the safety deposit box but now he needed Oliver’s help to track her down (secretly of course). He hit a dead end when he found a taxi driver who was unwilling to cooperate.

The FBI did not have any updates to share with Nate about his father’s case other than their investigation was ongoing. He pointed the finger at Tegan. Meanwhile, the next step was to put Brandi on the stand (which Michaela disagreed with) for Gabriel to direct (Vivian was impressed). It went well until Brandi fell apart under cross-examination. Now it was up to Tegan and Annalise to clean up both cases. Bonnie’s plan ultimately worked which earned her a chance with Tegan while Annalise brought up Sam to help Michaela with her case. The DA only charged Brandi to prevent her from filing a wrongful death lawsuit. Michaela’s passionate plea was successful (go Aja Naomi King!), forcing Brandi to choose between jail and the ability to file the lawsuit and probation and no suit. Brandi chose probation.

Vivian had had enough, she was going to go to the FBI unless Gabriel went home with her. He admitted to killing her boyfriend who wasn’t a good man. Gabriel just wanted to protect her (this was enough to defuse the situation). Vivian went to the FBI to back out of her deal with them (it looks like she’s with Annalise now). Meanwhile, the earlier taxi driver came around and gave Frank the address of a safe house where he dropped Laurel off. Xavier was there so he was on the right track.

Vivian gave Gabriel a set of tapes of Sam’s sessions with Annalise which may or may not have implied that Michaela’s father may still be alive. Meanwhile, Nate’s latest meeting with the FBI led to them offering information about his father’s case in exchange for help with their case against Annalise.

The flashforward saw the FBI interrogating Connor. After being shown a crime scene photo of something they claimed he did, he appeared to suffer from an anxiety attack.

What does Connor have to do with it? What is Laurel’s plan? Those are just some of the many questions that remained unanswered. While all of these will inevitably come together somehow, it will be interesting to see where it all goes.
