Synopsis: Mabel slips away on a solo mission tracking the victim’s final days. Suspicious, Charles & Oliver follow her. (Disney)

Everything is on the table as Charles and Oliver are perfectly capable of figuring things out on their own though their process, especially the latter, can get a little ridiculous at times. While it was Mabel and then Charles and Oliver, everybody is essentially on the same page now as it was inevitably going to be anyway. Mabel’s past continues to be the key to everything, including the circumstances leading to the untimely death of Zoe (Olivia Reis).

This episode picked up where the last episode left off with the Mabel side of things as she pursued her own lead. Meanwhile, the infamous tie-dye guy was always a suspect on the periphery (who was later determined to not be the killer), shown running up the stairs towards Tim Kono’s appartment the night he died. That being said, the tie-dye guy showed up once again, following Mabel into an alley. However, Mabel was more than aware that she was being followed and eventually got the upper hand on him. Ultimately, he was another part of her past who offered to drive her while they caught up.

Reeling from the reveal, Charles and Oliver followed Mabel in Oliver’s not very inconspicuous car. They had much different interpretations of the situation with one still choosing to think the best of her and the other the worst. Though things were not as clear-cut as they seemed as Mabel definitely didn’t help her case. Watching Steve Martin and Martin Short play off of each other while in the car was a hilarious delight. Adding another pair of podcasters named Lucien (Jacob Ming-Trent) and Dante (Roy Wood Jr.) who they met along the way hilariously put things into perspective.

By the end of the episode, all of the characters ended up at a tattoo shop where Mabel finally filled the others in on her connection to Tim Kono. In the end, it may just be the stolen jewelry in his possession that led to his downfall.

This episode showed the kind of series it could be, blending comedy with a compelling mystery and with the news that it has been renewed for a second season, it is definitely a promising sign for now and the future.
