Commonly, the finales of each MCU Disney+ series thus far has proved disappointing and have failed to come to a satisfying conclusion. Thankfully, She-Hulk delivers an incredibly entertaining, off-the-wall, and very satisfying season finale and also the best finale yet.
The opening of Whose Show is This? creatively mimics the classic Incredible Hulk series from the 1970s, before continuing Jen’s story as she faces repercussions for her outburst in last week’s episode. Jen is striped from her powers and now searches tirelessly for those behind Intelligencia so she can sue them, so she can once again be allowed to use her powers.
In a very low place, Jen texts Bruce and Emil for help, as they both have some understanding of what she is going through. The messages however don’t send. With Bruce in space, Jen decides to visit Emil at his retreat for some guidance.
At the same time, Nikki leaks a video of Jen on the Intelligencia website, leading Nikki to receive an invite to a special meeting from the Intelligencia leader Hulk King. Nikki asks Pug to go undercover for her. At first, he is reluctant but ultimately decides to help. They arrive at the secret meeting to find that Todd Phillips is not only a member but the leader and creator of the group. Todd then takes to the stage to introduce a guest speaker, Abomination.
Jen arrives at Emil’s retreat to find this secret meeting which soon goes off the rails, with Todd turning into a Hulk and many superpowered characters from the series begin crashing through the walls and roof for an epic finale. Jen’s still find time to break the fourth-wall. Although the Intelligencia meeting was brilliantly insane, it’s nothing compared to what’s to come. The fourth-wall break ends to a very satisfying conclusion.
This isn’t it however, as a new character is introduced which will undoubtedly get fans incredibly excited for the future and a hilarious post-credit scene which doesn’t necessarily lead to much but is still hilarious and exciting.
In the end, Whose Show is This? is an utterly bonkers finale in the best way possible. Sure the episode doesn’t have much structure to it but works in spite of that.
As a whole, She-Hulk is easily one of the best, if not, the best MCU Disney+ series to date. Brilliantly-written and well-paced, more episodes allow the series to breathe. She-Hulk and Jennifer Walters are intriguing and entertaining characters fans should be very excited to see return. Tatiana Maslany elevate each with genius comic timing and a stellar range. Meanwhile, the supporting cast were just as great, with Nikki, Pug and Mallory stealing scenes. Hopefully they will all return for a season two
At the moment, it is very hard to predict what will happen in season two. Hopefully Daredevil returns if only to see her relationship with Jen continue to blossom. Maybe it will also see more of Bruce Banner as he deals with a revolutionary new discovery. It would be perfect if Madisynn King makes another appearance, which would be even better if she is reunited with “Wongers” as she spoils another TV series which Wong is attempting to binge, maybe Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones.
The next season of She-Hulk should deal with bigger and more world-breaking cases, which could lead to numerous MCU favorites perhaps making appearances, especially with the introduction of mutants. There is no telling where the series could go from here, but there is no denying that fans should be beyond excited for it to return.
