Hell or High Water

If you would like to read my thoughts on the first trailer, click here. Who’s up for some Texan justice? Who loves banks? I kind of already knew the answer to that one but if you said yes to both, then this movie may be for you. A pair of brothers named Toby (Chris Pine) and Tanner (Ben Foster) are trying to save their farm so they decide to steal from a bank that has been pretty much stealing from everyone else in town. So I guess it isn’t as bad then. Either way, they are now pursued by a lovable Southern sheriff named Marcus (Jeff Bridges). This perhaps isn’t one of the most original movies but the people here could make it work. Hell or High Water releases August 12th, 2016.

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage

When you thought it was over, here it is again. I guess it’s nice to see Vin Diesel do something else. He’s not racing cars, or at least not in this trailer, but the differences end there. I don’t remember much of the previous xXx films other than explaining to my parents that I wasn’t watching porn since they never really understood the whole “xXx” thing. Diesel definitely looks good at the action stuff here but it’s unclear as to whether or not the story will match up but my expectations are pretty low. The dialogue wasn’t that great either which did not come as much of a surprise. It was also nice to see Samuel L. Jackson as Agent Augustus Eugene Gibbons. Get ready for some mindless fun once xXx: The Return of Xander Cage releases January 20th, 2017.

Moana

If you would like to read my thoughts on the first trailer, click here. Yes you heard right, it’s Japanese. This teaser is not very long but it is all in Japanese. Sure it’s a little hard to know what they’re saying but you can definitely get a sense of what was going on. It went in a completely different direction than in the first teaser trailer. It shows a little girl who befriends a magical wave. Other than that, the world created here is very vibrant and beautiful but that is to be expected from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Moana releases November 23rd, 2016.

Before I Wake

Jacob Tremblay is just the cutest thing, in real life and also in Room. For those wondering what his next big role would be, then look no further. Here he plays Cody, who is adopted by a young couple named Jessie (Kate Bosworth) and Mark (Thomas Jane). He’s not just any child, however, as his dreams come to life. But we’re not just talking about good dreams but also nightmares too and they can sometimes get pretty scary. It is interesting to see him in this new role as it is so different from Room. I’m just looking forward to where all of this goes. Before I Wake releases September 9th, 2016.

In a Valley of Violence

If you thought The Magnificent Seven wasn’t enough Westerns, here’s another one. The funny coincidence here is that Ethan Hawke is in both. After watching the trailer, I’m not exactly sure what the movie is about but the synopsis is “A mysterious stranger and a random act of violence drag a town of misfits & nitwits into the bloody crosshairs of revenge”. Other than that little caveat, this still looks fun and entertaining with Hawke as the charismatic lead and a great cast which also includes John Travolta as The Marshall. Although I have The Magnificent Seven on my list of most anticipated movies of 2016, this one looks promising too. In a Valley of Violence releases October 21st, 2016.
