Teasing viewers with the moment they have been waiting for, the pre-penultimate episode of The Agency revealed yet another facet in the proceedings as it allegedly was a pretense for the real villains of the story and their plan. Another can of worms to contend with, the season proves to still have a few more tricks up its sleeve as it comes to an end. In spite of what the episode title may suggest, the truth only further complicated things for the characters as their feelings for one another and their own allegiances were put to the test.

The episode didn’t waste time in giving viewers the moment we’ve all been waiting for but their exchange was not as straightforward as many perhaps thought it would be. Sami, for starters, did not take the truth well, believing it to be a betrayal on Martian’s part. Also, the notion of working for him as a CIA asset upset her even more. Regardless, the stress of that encounter appeared to get to her. Osman, the consummate protector, vowed to take care of it. As far as the negotiations were concerned, they had to move.

Daniella still had competition for Iran so she and Naomi teamed up in what was a fun dynamic as they worked together on a solution to their problem. When she wasn’t working with Daniella, Naomi continued her investigation of Martian’s relationship with Sami. Confronting him with her suspicions, he made quick work of her. Meanwhile, Called in as an expert to offer more background, Richardson broke it down the Chinese side of everything and the endgame was a port in Sudan to establish a base closer to Europe. Perhaps some of that insight was due to his relationship with a man named Guo (Curtis Lum), a character viewers have seen previously, working as a Chinese representative during the Sudan negotiations and seemingly with or for him.

Giving Guo a thumb drive with other probing intel, Richardson hoped that it would throw the Americans off the trail of whatever else was going on. Blindsiding the London station, Guo warned them against continuing their investigation as Bosko reminded everyone that doing nothing came at a price (a great little monologue for Richard Gere), for which he paid with the drive. Fighting him in the parking lot for more information, Martian got no additional information as he subdued him.

On the Coyote front, the London station set their target on Volchok’s secretary. Attempting to recruit her, they had an in but it would not last long as he once again snuffed out yet another threat. With no line to him, it was time for him to be transferred.

Following her revelation to Osman, Sami was ordered back home but making one last ditch effort to get her back, Martian found a way to confront her in an airport lounge. Despite feeling betrayed, she still appeared to have feelings for him. That being said, her primary concern was her family, her people, and her country so Martian could do nothing more than watch her get on an airplane and leave the UK. In a season that is far from over, maybe a pivot towards China is in store? And what does Richardson have to do with it all? Either way, there is plenty of intrigue left as there are now two episodes left for it to play out.
