Promo Spot

Synopsis

Mulder and Scully receive help in the investigation of a murder case from a reluctant psychic, Clyde Bruckman (Peter Boyle).

Analysis (spoilers)

We get a glimpse of an old man at a store buying some alcohol and a trashy magazine. When he leaves he accidentally runs into another man who then later walks into a fortune teller’s establishment, pretending to get a reading and then murdering her. Mulder and Scully are called in to assist with the case. The suspect may have been responsible with the deaths of other fortune teller types. The psychic from the trashy magazine, Yappi, shows up and dismisses Mulder for being a skeptic and seemingly offers the police more leads than Mulder and Scully. The first old man offers a young couple a reading which does not come off as well. He then starts to get visions of death. The old man is a psychic named Mr. Bruckman. Mulder senses that he may have psychic ability. Bruckman denies having the ability. They bring him in to assist them with their investigation. He can only see how people die but not much besides that. He foresees Mulder’s death at the hands of the killer but chooses not to tell him. The killer figures out that Bruckman is assisting the FBI and threatens to kill him.  The killer who works at the hotel where they’re all at finds Bruckman. Bruckman disappears. Mulder confronts the killer and they then battle which results in the killer getting shot by Scully. Bruckman’s prediction of Mulder’s death does not come true (obviously). They find Bruckman dead in his apartment. Scully is at home and gets annoyed by a Yappi infomercial.
