Super Bowl Commercial Preview

Keith NoakesFebruary 3, 2016n/a8 min

We are now just 4 days away from Super Bowl 50 from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California featuring a matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos. While football fans will be watching the game to see these two great teams play (you can put me in that group), some will be watching for the commercials. Based on the high viewership and the wide viewer demographics, advertisers like to use this time as a means of building awareness among this wide audience, while also trying to generate attention around the ads themselves so they may receive additional exposure. In order to get you ready for the game and/or the commercials, I’ve shared some with you below:

Ryanville: 2017 Hyundai Elantra Commercial

Who wouldn’t be distracted driving through a city of only Ryan Reynolds’? At least the 2017 Hyundai Elantra won’t be.

Budweiser #GiveADamn

After Helen Mirren’s speech, who would want to consider drinking and driving again? Things just sound better when they’re said with a British accent.

Skittles: “The Portrait” with Steven Tyler

Steven Tyler meets his singing Skittles-made portrait.

First Date: 2016 Hyundai Genesis Commercial

This is another Hyundai commercial. This one features Kevin Hart as a protective father who goes to great lengths to protect his daughter who goes out on a date. This is probably the funniest thing I’ve seen him in in a long time.

The Bud Light Party

Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen are starting their own political party, The Bud Light Party. They don’t care about labels. Beer should have labels, not people. They are the fake party America needs. No matter where we stand on the issues, we all sit on bar stools. America has seen the light. And there’s a Bud in front of it.

Heinz Ketchup Hot Dog

A bunch of cute weiner dogs running to condiments because they just can’t live without them.

Shock Top “Unfiltered Talk” with T.J. Miller

T.J. Miller and some orange-ish beer mascot trade insults.

“Super Bowl Babies Choir” feat. Seal

A bunch of kids born around the time of past Super Bowls sing a song about the Super Bowl which kind of sounds like “Kiss from a rose” with Seal.

2016 Doritos Crash the Super Bowl Finalist

One of the finalists of Doritos’ Crash the Super Bowl contest, a contest where fans are encouraged to create their own Doritos commercials where the winning ad is shown during the Super Bowl. This one involves an ultrasound with a baby who just can’t wait to have some.

Pokémon 20

A commercial celebrating the 20th anniversary of Pokémon. Everyone will believe that they can do that.

T-Mobile “Restricted Bling”

Traditional mobile carriers ruin everything, even “Hotline Bling”.

The Chase: 2017 Hyundai Elantra Commercial

Yet another Hyundai commercial, this one features a pair of talking bears. Talking animals are often misunderstood, this is just an other misunderstanding.

This One’s for Mom: Campbell’s Chunky Soup

This one tugs on the heartstrings a little. Through one’s life mom is always there no matter what. This follows the relationship between a football player and his mother from a kid to a pro.

“Walken Closet”: 2016 Kia Optima Commercial

Another car commercial, this time it’s for Kia and based on the title, I don’t really have to explain what it’s about.

LG: Man From The Future

Liam Neeson is man from the future who wants us to protect the future so he can keep talking about TVs.

So that was your taste of what is to come. Enjoy the game. I know I will.
