The mystery behind who shot Gamby has been resolved but before that, it was spring break time.
At the end of the last episode, Gamby, Russell, Nash, and Snodgrass banded together to save the school and this episode started with the four of them partaking in a blood pact. Now it was time for them to go their separate ways, Gamby was going to the beach with Jannelle, Snodgrass was going to a writer’s festival with Brian, and Russell was going to be alone after he and Christine were getting a divorce.
Of course it wasn’t exactly going to end up that way. Abbott tried to guilt Gamby into staying with her by lying about being pregnant which surprised him. Russell got caught in one of Gamby’s traps outside his house on his way to ask him to let him go to spring break with them. When he went to pick up Janelle and her friends, Abbott showed up uninvited at Gail’s. Once she saw Russell, she went crazy.
Janelle and her friends were unimpressed by Gamby and Russell. Gamby finished Snodgrass’ book and he thought it was great. He also admitted that he was with Abbott because it was better than being alone. Once the girls got into their swimsuits, Gamby did not like how little they covered but they and Russell claimed it to be the style. Russell was more on their side since he was attracted to Janelle’s alpha friend and Deb (Cait Pool). When they tried to place her hand in warm water to get her to pee, all the girls woke up.
The next day, Gamby wanted everyone to participate in a burger eating challenge but none of them wanted to do it. Gamby let Janelle and her friends wanted to go out on their own while he and Russell had some fun of their own. They did cocaine and went to a strip club.
At the festival, Snodgrass was excited while Brian was flirting with the check-in woman. During dinner. she learned from the other writers the truth about how novels get published which was the opposite of what of Brian has been telling her. She and Brian then had an honest conversation about her book where he told her that it was terrible and that he was only helping her because she was his girlfriend.
Gamby called her from the strip club when she was alone while Brian was singing loudly in the shower. It was ironic when he was told her he was having father and daughter time while in a strip club. He also told her that he finished her book and thought it was great. He later learned that Janelle and her friends were arrested.
Back at their rental house, Abbott showed up and saw that Gamby called Snodgrass. He then broke up with her. After Brian made a speech, Snodgrass took the opportunity to read her a part of her book out loud to hear what people thought of it. She was promptly removed and told that her book was terrible, leading her to storm off the stage.
As Gamby was sitting down in his room, Janelle scared him using the same mask as his shooter. She told him that she found the mask in Russell’s Jeep. When Gamby went to investigate, he found the shooter’s outfit and their gun. Snodgrass and Brian appeared to leave the festival early.
The episode ended with Gamby, Russell, and the girls leaving. Janelle apologized to Gamby for her behavior and he told her that we make mistakes while staring at Russell.
Overall, this was a great episode that finally revealed Gamby’s shooter which was mostly likely Russell (which everybody already suspected). It also featured a funny cocaine-fueled sequence between Gamby and Russell and also helped to drive Gamby and Snodgrass back together. Now that Gamby knows that Russell shot him, it will be interesting to see where their relationship will go with 2 episodes left in the show.
Score: 9/10
