Well this was a weird episode but in a good way. It felt like two different enjoyable episodes, however, it was for a valid reason as the first half was not the kind of a story that would fit as a Lethal Weapon episode on its own so it was used to set up the second half. Of course there were still some other subplots that connected to the case of the week.

Murtaugh and Trish are trying to get their infant daughter into a fancy preschool while Riggs and Molly were growing closer to one another to the point of making Riggs uncomfortable. Meanwhile, they were investigating the death of a man dumped in a dumpster. They couldn’t identify the body but they tracked the owner of a rug underneath the body to a conspiracy theorist whose laptop was rigged to explode.

Riggs visited Cahill to get her professional opinion of their person of interest while sharing his insecurities about his relationship with Molly. Cahill didn’t think it was a disaster. Bailey and Murtaugh shared their thoughts about a few conspiracy theories before tracking down the mystery man’s wife and child. The man’s name was Jonah Canter (Derek Richardson), a schizophrenic suffering from delusions manifesting as conspiracy theories. Murtaugh and Riggs later found Canter and chased him down where Canter had Riggs at gunpoint and Riggs wanted Canter to shoot him so he didn’t have to go on a date with Molly. Unfortunately, Murtaugh stopped him from doing that.

In the interrogation room, Canter thought he was being framed to keep him quiet about what he found. Elvis Presley was apparently controlling traffic around Hollywood. Soon after the LAPD was hacked and they were given an address to go to. There, Murtaugh and Riggs were given information that Canter had been sold hacking software that he used to research bombs. Canter then escaped while being delivered to the hospital and stole Cahill’s car.

While Riggs and Cahill were going over evidence to find Canter, Molly showed up since Riggs forgot about their date. Riggs also had a list of reasons why they shouldn’t be together but he misplaced it. During a home visit from the preschool, Murtaugh tried way too hard to impress their representative and they were later rejected. Meanwhile, Riggs and Cahill went out together which was cool and tracked Canter to an intersection where he had created a device to control traffic. A medicated Canter told Riggs that he saw Elvis impersonators rig traffic lights so they can be controlled and when he posted a video about it, one of the Elvis’s tried to kill him and killed the man in the dumpster instead.

The Elvis’ plan was to control traffic so they can keep the police out while they stole an armored truck. Riggs later joined Molly on a bus tour with his list. They each had their own reasons why they shouldn’t be together. Since Murtaugh couldn’t get in, Riggs had to act. He took control of the tour bus with Molly tagging along. Once they caught up to the truck, Riggs jumped on the roof and went for a ride until Murtaugh caught up and they stopped in front of a movie theater. At this theater was a doctor from the preschool who just happened to be against popular culture.

Murtaugh later confronted the doctor with video evidence and she reversed her decision. Canter was reunited with his family. Riggs decided to go on another date with Molly which happened to be at Murtaugh’s house where they made boozy milkshakes in the middle of the night. Murtaugh woke up and threatened them with his blacklight if they were to have sex in his kitchen.

Overall, this was a good episode with a compelling story and subplots that were all connected and involved all the characters. These episodes are when the show is at is best. The episode couldn’t all be about the mentally challenged Canter so the action sequence with the Elvis’ helped to lighten things up. Riggs and Molly are fun together but hopefully she doesn’t become the new Palmer.

Score: 8.5/10
