Synopsis: Batwoman and Luke are on the trail of a villain targeting social media mavens. Sophie gets an unexpected visit from her mother, and Mary offers her expertise to assist Kate. Jacob Kane is approached to make good on a favor, while Alice focuses on her plans for retribution. (TVGuide)

All Arrowverse shows have been riding on a post-Crisis high, Batwoman included. But this week, we sort of hit a lull as things start to fall back to the way they once were. Having said that, there were some pleasant surprises worth discussing along the way. One of the worse things about the show has arguably been the dynamic between Sophie and Kate/Batwoman. It’s been difficult to get attached to Sophie since Batwoman premiered which only makes it tougher now that she’s crushing on Batwoman. Kate deserves way better, and Sophie isn’t the one to give her all she is truly worth of getting.

Also, how does Sophie not realize she has been kissing Kate? Like, it’s so freaking obvious! And considering she’s made out with her before, you would think Sophie would have some idea. So while the whole Sophie/Kate thing is a bust, it’s hard to care about what happens between them or the fact that Sophie seems so heartbroken over Batwoman pushing her away, there is something that comes out of it. Sophie’s mom drops by for a surprise visit after learning Sophie was separated from Tyler. Eventually, Sophie takes the opportunity to come out to her mother, and share her sexuality with her. Unfortunately, it doesn’t go as well as she would have liked.

Let’s hope her mother comes around!

What was enjoyable about this episode is the villain we were introduced to–Duela Dent (Alessandra Torresani). Did you know that in the comics this character goes by, Joker’s Daughter. So is she actually his daughter? Well, that smile she carves into her face is a sure-fire clue, right? In Batwoman, there’s another version that Duela Dent is known by, and that would be Harvey Dent’s niece (in earlier versions, she’s his daughter). Let me be one of many to say that Duela Dent was quite the scary character. There’s something so sinister about her, and she plays the crazy maniac pretty well.

We’ll see more of her in future episodes because she definitely was the best part of an otherwise slow, boring episode. But, hey, at least we got to see Alice come face-to-face with Cartwright. Can someone explain to me how they put on and take off these face masks so easily? And why is it not grosser? Just asking. The end of the episode hints at Scarecrow being the next villain in Batwoman, but we’ll have to sit tight and wait until next week to find out if that is indeed him. Anytime, gaseous toxins are involved, it’s usually always him.

Until next week!
