Through the first three episodes, Fox’s new show The Exorcist has been a big swing and miss. For a horror show about demons, it’s struggling to conjure up the scares. It’s slow, the writing can be laughable, and much of the acting is forgettable (other than the great Alan Ruck of course). It’s just not hitting as a TV show.
The latest episode of American Horror Story: Roanoke featured much of the backstory we’ve been looking for. It answered all the questions (so we think) as to why Shelby and Matt are being terrorized by “The Butcher”and her gang of angry creatures.

I am definitely looking forward to learning more and more about them as the season progresses. This episode continued along those lines where the case connected more to the main story than most.
