Spike Lee is back and this time he’s heading into the Vietnam War! Check out the official trailer of Spike Lee’s latest joint, Da 5 Bloods, above, coming to Netflix June 12th.

Doesn’t it feel good to watch a real movie trailer again? It feels like it’s been forever since the world has gotten to watch a fantastic trailer and it’s no surprise it comes from the man, Spike Lee. Da 5 Bloods is of course is his follow-up to his Oscar-winning flick BlacKKKlansman, and he once again sets the bar extremely high with this overall impressive trailer.

Da 5 Bloods will tell the story of a group of veterans from the Vietnam War as they look to reclaim some buried gold and battle their inner demons all while trying to honor their fallen comrade. From the different aspect ratios, the flashbacks, the back and forth between past and present, the editing alone has a Oscar nomination written all over it. Throw in an ensemble cast that is equally as impressive that circles around Chadwick Boseman who is playing “the greatest soldier who ever lived.”

With Spike Lee at the helm you know that Da 5 Bloods will have a great race element and a big heart at the center. He loves to educate his audience with every single film he makes and isn’t afraid to tackle important issues within society today. That’s what makes him such an extraordinary filmmaker. With that, one can’t help but feel robbed that we won’t be able to see it on the big screen, as it’s coming to Netflix next month. War movies always work better with better sound and a bigger screen. Regardless, this looks like another great Spike film, that a lot of people will be watching once it hit Netflix.
