In 1863, Mississippi farmer Newt Knight (Matthew McConaughey) serves as a medic for the Confederate Army. Opposed to slavery, Knight would rather help the wounded than fight the Union. After his nephew dies in battle, Newt returns home to Jones County to safeguard his family but is soon branded an outlaw deserter. Forced to flee, he finds refuge with a group of runaway slaves hiding out in the swamps. Forging an alliance with the slaves...

This one is a special edition of “Clip Explosion” as it features clips of 3 movies coming within the next 2 weeks, “Finding Dory”, “Independence Day: Resurgence”, and “Free State of Jones”. I’m very excited for all of these movies and I hope I won’t spoil too much of them in posting these. Of course you can all expect reviews in or around each of their release dates.
The Free State of Jones is a story about about a Southern farmer named Newt Knight (Matthew McConaughey) during the Civil War who led a rebellion against the Confederacy. This is a very epic-looking film with your Civil War army battles and good old-fashioned southerness.
