Classic Review: The Neon Demon (2016)

Since I’ve started this site, I’ve written a lot of reviews. In case you missed some of my earlier ones, I would like to share an older review of “The Neon Demon” which originally appeared here.

The Neon Demon Review

Jesse (Elle Fanning) moves to Los Angeles just after her 16th birthday to launch a career as a model. The head of her agency tells the innocent teen that she has the qualities to become a top star. Jesse soon faces the wrath of ruthless vixens who despise her fresh-faced beauty. On top of that, she must contend with a seedy motel manager and a creepy photographer. As Jesse starts to take the fashion world by storm, her personality changes in ways that could help her against her cutthroat rivals.

The Neon Demon Clip Explosion *Spoilers*

If you would like to read my thoughts on the first trailer for The Neon Demon, click here. I’ve known about this one for a little while now. It’s a stylised horror/thriller movie co-written and directed the guy who directed Drive (still haven’t seen it), Nicolas Windling Refn. For those who still don’t know, it’s about an aspiring model Jesse (Elle Fanning) moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has. It looks great so far and I hope it comes to Ottawa which is where I live. Today I have 5 clips of the movie that I’ve added below.
