Synopsis: Conflict with the Saviors leads to unintended consequences for the Hilltop, the Kingdom, and Alexandria. (IMDB)
Writers: Matthew Negrete and Channing Powell
Director: Greg Nicotero
Rating: TV-MA
Running Time: 44mins
The episode picks up where the last left off with the same multiple storylines involving the Hilltop, the Kingdom, and Alexandria.
The Hilltop group are leading their Savior hostages back to the Hilltop. Morgan does not agree with keeping them alive, especially with Jared chastising him every step of the way. Their trek wasn’t going to be problem free because it was. A group of Savior hostages used a Walker attack as a means to escape but Morgan made sure they didn’t get too far. He and Jesus have been at odds for awhile now, leading them to a cool fight, that ultimately went nowhere, where Morgan did not want to give up despite losing.
In other Hilltop news, Gregory returned and Maggie was not exactly happy to see him and rightfully called him out for his behavior. He admitted to being scared and wrong about reasoning with the Saviors. His emotional plea worked as she let him in He wasn’t alone as the earlier group and their Savior hostages returned as well. Jesus tried to convince Maggie but it’s unclear what she decided since the episode didn’t go back to her.
Last episode ended with Rick at gunpoint by the long lost Morales. Things looked precarious, however, nothing was going to happen and nothing did. Rick tried to talk him down until Daryl showed up and shot him like he was no one. The remaining Saviors who were being pinned outside decided to move back inside where Rick and Daryl were. Of course they survived this too. Rick took pictures of the carnage afterwards as they prepared to leave. Aaron had pulled Eric aside to tend to his wound and left him to go back but when he returned, Eric had become a Walker. He then volunteered to take the baby. It wasn’t over for them as one Savior remained and they managed to learn that the guns they were looking for weren’t even there and were at another outpost.
The Kingdom group are still lingering in the forest taking on Saviors of their own. They disposed of them rather easily thanks to Ezekiel’s infectious positivity. This was fueled by the fact that they did not lose a single person through their victories. This didn’t last long with the episode ending with them being surprised by a sniper mowing them down from a window.
Overall, this was another decent episode, following the same path as the previous episode with a lot going on though this was a little easier to follow as we start to see the results of the characters’ actions of the previous episode. There was slightly less action here, however, it seemed just way too easy which made things less exciting. This ultimately isn’t over yet so hopefully it doesn’t get dragged out. We got one answer from the premiere’s cliffhanger with Gregory but hopefully they don’t drag this out much longer either.
Score: 7/10
