This week of iZombie balances humor with some serious moments as Liv eats the brain of a Renaissance live-action role-player and deals with an unusual situation in her role as the new Renegade. At the end of last week’s episode, Peyton caught Liv printing out IDs and learns about her human smuggling operation.

Instead of being angry, Peyton offers to help Liv out–but Liv tells her all they really need is money. Taking this request seriously, she visits someone in prison and offers to transfer him to a better one in exchange for his help.

Liv, Clive, and Ravi head to a crime scene where the victim, Garrett, is adorned in a knight costume. As always, Liv whips up a dish to devour the brains of the victim and begins speaking like an elegant, fair lady. In order to learn more about the victim, Clive and Liv head to Garrett’s LARP group to interview other members of the group.

They learn that all the members thought Garrett was a zombie because he left to be a part of a zombie LARP group. However, Liv and Ravi know from the autopsy that he was not actually a zombie. Meanwhile, Liv gets a call from a girl that needs to be smuggled into Seattle–her coyote disappeared and she has been waiting for him.

Clive gets more information regarding Garrett and he and Liv head off to investigate and end up at some sort of Thunderdome. They speak with one of Garrett’s friends, Magnus, who is surprised to learn that Garrett wasn’t a zombie.

Clive is still having relationship issues with Dale, who slept with someone for the first time, catching Clive off-guard and a bit disheartened. Meanwhile, Major has a mission of his own where he tries to stop a group of zombies from re-packaging brain tubes. Luckily, he convinces the other soldiers not to kill the zombies.

When Clive and Liv go see the zombie LARP group, they admit that Garrett was accidentally stabbed. And because they thought he was a zombie, they didn’t expect him to bleed. And instead of helping, they left him behind.

Liv finally has her first vision on Garrett’s brains when Ravi dresses up in the knight armor. She sees that Garrett was sleeping with the wife of one of the LARP players. And it turns out that the husband was the one that killed Garrett out of revenge.

Peyton manages to get the money Liv needs thanks to the prison guy–which Blaine and Mr. Boss attempt to get their hands on but are too late. She also goes with Liv to one of her meetings where she scratches the smuggled humans but things take an interesting turn when the scratch has no effect on one of the girls.

With the girl unable to turn into a zombie, it opens up a lot of questions as to why she was unaffected. Is there an antidote? Or will the girl die because she can’t be turned into a zombie? iZombie continues to be entertaining especially because of Rose McIver’s ability to channel so many different characters episode after episode. Her take on this week’s episode was amazing and hilarious to watch. Can’t wait to see her channel her gangsta’ side next week!

Score: 7.5/10
