Synopsis: While investigating a murder case in which there is no body or brain to eat, the only evidence Liv and Clive have to work with is a grainy video and a little bit of blood found at the crime scene; Blaine is up to his old tricks. (TVGuide)
iZombie is back, folks! It is painful to think that this is the final season. Thug Life began much like any iZombie episode does except with a slight time jump. Seattle is a hot mess right now and the human/zombie relations are strained more than ever.
There aren’t enough brains to feed the zombies and to make matters worse, a video of a zombie eating a woman’s brain goes viral causing more chaos. As you can see, things aren’t exactly hunky-dory, which makes me worry for all my favorites in the final season. While many are struggling to get through the day, Blaine is living it up, at least for now. His brain business is hitting a roadblock since the border patrol agents are 100% anti-zombie now. If he can’t get the deliveries, there is no business to tend to.
So what does Blaine decide to do? With some urgency from Major, Blaine takes it upon himself to kidnap and threaten five agents, of which four give in to his threats. The other one, well, R.I.P. Is it me or is Blaine the type of villain you love to hate?
Things get worse when a van explodes near one of the Filmore-Graves checkpoints, prompting people to try and get out of Seattle ASAP. And while people are trying to get out, others are trying to get in. Liv is eager to try and help but with how bad things have gotten, it’s not so easy anymore. Smuggling kids across the border is near impossible now as we find out in this episode.
The best part of Thug Life is seeing Ravi go full-on zombie mode. He accidentally eats the brains of a thug criminal which makes for some hilarious moments. However, while he might be funny as a thug, it causes him to have issues with Dr. Collier (Quinta Brunson) for whom he’s working with regarding the cure. If you recall, he knows exactly how to produce the cure, but given that it has to be from the brain of a person with a rare, specific syndrome, it’s difficult.
The woman eventually figures it out too, but Ravi snaps back to himself to insist that she doesn’t share that information. It could put children’s lives at danger and they have to tread carefully. Thankfully, Ravi the thug’s behavior doesn’t annoy the woman to a point of disregarding his plea. During a meeting with the other doctors, she decides not to reveal what she’s found. Phew.
The episode’s mystery involves figuring out the identity of a dead woman. Liv and Clive manage to find who they believe to be her boyfriend. H tracks her location down via an app but unfortunately, they all arrive at the scene to see she isn’t there. Is this woman the woman Liv and Clive are looking for? Looks like we’ll have to wait to find out.
iZombie is off to a tough and gloomy start for the characters, but I’m excited to see how the final season plays out. This has been such a fun series and it will be exciting to see how it all wraps up in the end. Yay, iZombie is back!
