Synopsis: Liv and Ravi each consume the brain of a very dislikable car salesman and inherit his competitive nature. (TVGuide)
Just when you think you’ve seen Liz eat every type of brain out there in the world of iZombie, you’re blown away at what the series will come up with next. After five seasons of this, it’s amazing how they can continue to be so original, hilarious, and witty with all the different types of people Liz has been.
In this week’s episode, both Liv and Ravi eat the brains of a car salesman and immediately begin competing with one another to be the biggest and the best at their job. They may not be selling cars, but whatever they’re selling, they want to do darn good job of it.
As you may or may not know, Ravi isn’t a zombie full time but in this episode, it is his time of the month so he joins Liv in some brain-eating investigative excursions. This time around the case involves the mysterious death of a car salesman and this episode was hilarious. Watching both Ravi and Liv argue and compete over every little thing was fun to watch and not as annoying as one would think.
Amidst the investigation, Clive reminded both of them that the annual police raffle was underway and the employee that sold the most would win a pretty hefty price. Being on car salesman brains, Ravi and Liv spent more time trying to win rather than what was actually going in the case. You see, a man named Randall (whose brains they had eaten) died after someone hacked into his car and caused an accident.
The suspicions first fell on Randall’s wife after Clive learned their life insurance policy had been recently changed following Randall’s promotion. But guess what, it wasn’t her! Of course, it wasn’t, it’s never the first person they bring in, is it?
While salespeople Ravi and Liv tried to figure out what went down in the murder investigation, Liv’s mind was also occupied by the fact that she found her real father who, spoiler alert, created the Utopium drug. After a few bumps in the episode, the two of them figure things out after Liv learns about her father’s past as an addict and how it’s still something he’s struggling with. I don’t know though, he’s definitely shady and it’s going to end horribly for someone.
This week’s case gets a bit confusing and complicated since Ravi and Liv are on it, and their competitive natures make it even more discombobulated. However, by the end, it’s not necessarily their investigation, but rather a confession from one of Randall’s coworkers that solves the case.
All in all, this week’s episode is funny, but a bit on the confusing side. Having Liv and Ravi eat the brains of a competitive person makes things a bit complicated when it comes to solving a case. They were both trying to outdo the other and in all that, the case sort of just got took a back seat and didn’t make a whole lot of sense in the grand scheme of things.
However, both Rose McIver and Rahul Kohli do an amazing job on-screen and it’s a pair we are definitely going to miss them when the series comes to an end.
