Satellite of Love is a fiery force that sees relationships grow and strain which pushes these firefighters to face their issues or fall closer to rock bottom.

Well that lasted no time at all as Andy and Jack continue to be Roomies with Benefits. Meanwhile, Maya is getting to know Dr. Deluca a little better and Victoria is walking up at Jackson’s house to fresh beside coffee. Romance seems to be going well for some of these firefighters. Oh, and Dean is in his first days of fatherhood and wants to name the baby, but JJ seems reluctant to do that and face his family. Here’s what happened in “Satellite of Love.”

First off, Andy is clearly suffering. She’s lashing out, shutting people down and pushing them away. And what do all these friends do? They do what any good friend should and… ignore the warning signs? I get want to let her push through her pain and giving her space, but she is suffering much more than they think and she is bound to hit rock bottom sooner rather than later.

Of course there are some bigger problems happening in the station as Sullivan’s addiction has worsened. He shoots up at work and ends up seeing a hallucination of Ripley who judges him for his choices. He’s close to joining his friend when Emmett, the new firefighter and son of Chief Dixon, manages to administer some Narcan and snap him out of it. This sort of wake up call is exactly what Sullivan needs to admit that he has a problem.

And then the brutal situation surrounding Dean. After being thrust into parenthood and embracing this new part of his life, JJ decides to do what any normal mother would do and… disappear? Yep that’s right, she just ends up leaving which is entirely unfair and cruel to Dean. She could’ve easily just left a baby at his doorstep, but instead puts him through the pain of thinking a relationship may work out between them. It’s terrible to watch this happen to such a nice and selfless character. Hopefully his work family can be more supportive than his real one.
