The Flash (6×16) So Long and Goodnight Review

Synopsis: After Black Hole hires Rag Doll to kill Joe, Singh suggests that Joe go into the witness protection program, while Ralph runs into Sue and Iris becomes suspicious of Eva. (IMDb)

Well, The Flash is back after a brief break due to schedule changes because of the coronavirus pandemic. The episodes are coming in random spurts, and this week, we got right back to the world of The Flash.

As you might recall, Barry’s speed has been affected and he’s been doing his best to monitor it. He’s not as quick as once was, which presents a huge problem when it comes to facing off with the Rag Doll. Speaking of Rag Doll, his mission in this week’s episode is to take down Joe West. Captain Singh is eager to put Joe in the Witness Protection Program, but of course, he refuses. Why would he want to keep himself and his family safe? What a ridiculous thought have (are you sensing my sarcasm here?). As expected, Rag Doll tried to take Joe’s life, along with Cecile’s. I mean, what did they expect? Of course that was going to happen. By the end of the episode, Joe agrees to go into hiding, but something is really bothering me here. Team Flash has been up against some crazy villains and because of Carver and Rag Doll Joe has to go into hiding? Seriously?

Meanwhile, the real Iris is still stuck in the mirror world, but adapting to it. She also believes that she knows the way out of there, which isn’t going to sit well with Eva, who is evil. And while we’re on the topic of Eva, she has evil Iris ensuring that Barry continues to lose his power. Ugh, why is this show such a hot mess?

Joe eventually finds out that Carver is behind the Rag Doll attacks, and finally agrees to go into WITSEC at some point. But guess what? Captain Singh is in cahoots with Eva and has been turned evil too. The plot twists keep coming. When Barry returns home after what has been an exhausting day chasing down Rag Doll, the evil Iris decides to spark a fight between the two of them. She asks Barry to leave and says “she is done” because he didn’t tell her about Joe going into WITSEC. She’s so livid that she kicks him out of the house.

If evil Iris was doing her job, she’d know that real Iris wouldn’t do something like this. It’s a surefire way to make Barry suspicious, and based on next week’s promo, he knows something shady is afoot.

The Flash had to halt production so we’re not going to see how this season ends, but given the season thus far, it’d be futile to hold out any hope.
