The Super Bowl is always a joyous time. Stuffing your face, watching grown men beat the living snot out of each other and it even has a little bit of everything for everyone. The half-time show and for most pop-culture junkies, movie and television trailers. This year was a little different, you usually expect studios to go all out and guns blazing, but with the pandemic running rampant, we still don’t have solid release dates for many upcoming movies. One of the lighter years in recent memory but check out this quick run down below.
The Falcon and Winter Soldier
Next up for MCU on Disney+ is Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and I gotta say on the heels of WandaVision, it might get lost along the way. Packed with a ton of action, this just feels like a TV rather than an event. WandaVision is a mystery wrapped in an enigma and it will be really hard to top what we are watching now. The return of Daniel Brühl’s Baron Zemo will help the show drastically and obviously expect a few surprises along the way.
Raya & The Last Dragon
When you see from the creators of Frozen, there has to be zero doubt in your mind that this movie will be a home run. Raya & The Last Dragon looks beautiful and full of heart. Toss in a little animated action and I think everyone is really going to enjoy this. Another movie that will try to come out in early March but you can also check it out on Disney+ March 5th.
Fast & Furious 9
Never in your life bet against family. The theme throughout this crazy franchise, it’s always boiled down to one thing, family. This time around it’s getting very personal for Dom when his brother decides to show up. Can you believe that the first trailer for this movie came out well over a year ago? Another film to be drastically altered by the pandemic, the trailer leaves its current release date open. They keep taking stakes and things higher and higher with each new installment. These people are basically gods now, so I look forward to more nonsense out of these people.
Nobody
Another look at family man turned trained ass-kicker, Bob Odenkirk is a man you don’t want to mess with. Going for the serious John Wick vibes with this, but it’s working? Probably due to the fact that Odenkirk is such a fantastic actor, but this should come across as lame and cheesy but it’s not. Maybe we can get a nice little cross-over down the line sometime. Remember that conversation you would always have as a kid. My Dad could totally beat up your Dad, well this is the King of all Dads.
Coming 2 America
Eddie Murphy and King Akeem are back! After 24 years we get a sequel to the comedy classic. Is it all going to still work after all this time? Either way, seeing Murphy again with Arsenio Hall and a modern all star cast make it definitely worth checking out. Thank God Prime picked it up from Paramount because we need a laugh. Check it out on Prime March 5th.
Old
Saved the best for last. The newest from M. Night Shyamalan. What appears to be the worlds creepiest beach. Go to the beach and your whole life with flash before your eyes, no literally. The premise is, during a family getaway, they stumble upon this remote beach, where they all start to age rapidly, living out their entire lives in the span of one day. That sounds intriguing and also very terrifying. Now it’s Shyamalan, so you never know what to fully expect, but he’s been on fire for almost the last decade, so I expect big things from this.
There you have it! The Super Bowl spots in all their glory. Which one are you looking forward to the most? Let’s us know in the comments down below!
