Rating Summary
Wrath of Man is an action thriller using great cinematography, unique storytelling and action sequences to keep things fresh and exciting.

Wrath Of Man is a part heist film part revenge tale that offers a combo of chaotic action and badass scenes for our guilty pleasure. Though there is a lot to love here, it could have been delivered in a more empathetic way instead of an over-the-top display of violence lacking care for human life. That being said, for some viewers, this will be right up their alley in that it is both brutal and unforgiving. The film follows a man named H (Statham), a familiar hero but one who provides a new perspective on the hero trope. Ritchie is not an amateur in any sense of the word as his style and flare can be felt right away from its opening scene and continues throughout. Taking a nonlinear approach with its story, it takes time to get going and allowing audiences to connect with its characters and their motivations. This was where the film was at its best. In the end, the great cinematography was the true hero of the story, using movements and angles in an inventive way while also keeping up with all the action that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Wrath of Man saw unforgiving and brutal action that was full of intensity, making for a much more entertaining watch that will leave viewers breathless and on the edge of their seats from beginning to end as each sequence tops the last and one whose violence certainly earned its R rating, taking advantage of it by pushing it to its limits narratively. No one character was safe as any character can go at any time which only heightened the general tension tenfold not to mention its plenty of unpredictable twists and turns. From confined spaces to grand fire fights, each action sequence felt different and unique with the great use of shadows and colors splattered across the screen. In terms of negatives, H, his tragic backstory, and motivations could have been fleshed out more in order to maximize the full impact of his character arc over the course of the film as it felt hollow here. Meanwhile, it also featured moments gratuitous witty dialog just to witty which simply came off as forced though its comedic moments did help to break up its brutal ones.

At the end of the day, Guy Ritchie fans should definitely check out Wrath of Man as soon as its available and safe for them. Already releasing some of the best action movies, this film stands tall and fits somewhere in the middle of Ritchie’s repertoire and audiences will surely feel the same after watching it. Nevertheless, the film is still one that will not only appeal to fans of heist movies but also those who appreciate a good ole revenge tale.
