USS Pennsylvania saw some cool submarine action in an episode that both lacked stakes and didn't really go anywhere as Teddy continues to be a frustrating character.

Synopsis: In a race against time to stop Teddy’s plan, motives are revealed and convictions are tested as Morgan and his allies infiltrate and make their way through the beached submarine that holds the tools for Teddy’s destruction. (TV Guide)

Despite a cool sequence on a submarine, this latest penultimate episode of this season of Fear The Walking Dead did not offer much in the way of answers as Teddy’s plan continues to confuse. Though it all may lead up to something, it has certainly been a frustrating ride thus far.

USS Pennsylvania  began with Morgan’s desolate compound as Teddy questioned Dakota. Lacking from both her relationships with Virginia and Morgan, she was hoping Teddy would fill the void within her and give her some meaning. Already in a vulnerable position, what he was saying was appealing to her. They were all in the submarine Teddy was alluding to in the last episode which was also where this episode took its name. All of Teddy’s people were going to die as a result of his plan and they were willing to die. Meanwhile, all of the others were heading towards the submarine.

Morgan made his way inside the submarine first and encountered a walker right away (a member of the now dead crew of which there were more where that came from). The others soon followed but whether or not they’d get out remained to be seen (as some had some unresolved issues to address not to mention the lack of a radio caused by interference). Though the dead crew members posed a decent threat, the level of radiation was another. However, they couldn’t go unnoticed by Teddy for very long.

During the commotion, Morgan snuck away but Strand caught up to him (he had to prove that he wasn’t just in it for himself). Unfortunately, the two got to a compartment with off the charts radiation but Morgan did not let that deter him of course. They ultimately took another way until Strand took his need to prove himself a little too far and appeared to sacrifice Morgan until Dakota had to be insufferable and grandstand to prove some sort of point. Morgan came back to save Strand and take out Dakota not before she shot him.

Morgan got some keycards out of his ordeal that opened up the door where Teddy and Riley were but they were too late to stop a missile from being launched, headed towards some unknown target while carrying 10 nuclear warheads. As far as Teddy was concerned, he was making the world a better place. For some reason, Morgan had a change of heart and let Teddy and Riley go though without finding out Alicia’s location. With Strand gone, the episode ended with Morgan alone in the submarine control room.

Who knows what the world looks like now or if Alicia’s okay? We got one more episode this season to find out.
