Alice is a new film inspired by actual events and is truly unlike anyone had ever seen on screen before. The film is a crazy, harrowing, and fantastic fun experience. With a tight running time, the film definitely delivers one of the most unbelievable plot curve balls in recent memory.

Alice begins with two slaves, Joseph (Gaius Charles) and Alice (Palmer), as they get married on a plantation in Georgia. Soon we get a glimpse of what life is like when the landowner, a man named Paul Bennet (Miller), starts beating Joseph for straying from his work by catching a rabbit. But Bennet soon had less than pure intentions for the married couple as Joseph was sent away to breed with other slaves at a nearby plantation while Alice tended to his needs back at their plantation from cooking to cleaning and more. Without giving anything away, the story gets absolutely wild from there, taking some wild turns along the way. In the end, while some may expect a 12 Years A Slave kind of film, it would prove to only the beginning as it shifts gears in a big way and becomes a less traumatic yet highly engaging and entertaining watch and a wild ride. When it came to the acting, it was solid across the board, with the film’s more serious first act being the standout while Common does a decent job in a supporting role as a man named Frank.

At the end of the day, without spoiling the plot, audiences should give Alice a chance as they will be taken down a rabbit hole and be treated to an experience they likely haven’t seen before.
