After an intense episode last week, this week’s episode of Killing Eve is no different. For concerned viewers following the end of that episode, it is clear that it’s going to take a lot more than that to take her out. This season has seen a smattering of characters aim to find the head of the Twelve each for different reasons. Over the course of the season, Eve, Villanelle, and Carolyn have converged at times in pursuit of their goals but something is going to have to give as the season and the series come to an end. This certainly made for plenty of intense moments as far as this episode was concerned as well as some twists and turns as the writing this season continues to be a highlight.
When it comes to Eve and Villanelle, Helene forced her way into that relationship thus making a triangle of sorts. There was some resentment there from Villanelle which perhaps put Helene in her crosshairs. Something has got to give as far as that triangle was concerned. Meanwhile, if the assassin tasked to kill her wanted her dead, she’d be dead therefore the one in question here had a different plan for her.
Carolyn’s motivation shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone in that all she wants to know was who ordered the hit on Kenny. She believed that Lars, despite their history, could get her that name though that was going to be easier said than done. Meanwhile, Eve was on Carolyn’s trail. Catching up to her, she got some answers as the latter pleaded her case in what was a rare show of emotion for Carolyn and the episode as a whole was a showcase for Fiona Shaw. She was not part of the Twelve but was rather working undercover back then as part of the group that eventually evolved into what it was today. Her actions now were for Kenny. However, that wasn’t good enough. That being said, the trail was not over.
Pam was given her first assignment for which she begrudgingly completed despite being on the fence about it. Vowing a different approach ideologically, whether or not she actually keeps to that remains to be seen but we will probably never know. Leave it to Konstantin to tell her how things really are.
In the end, only one of our main three characters is left in a decent position compared to where they started so it will be interesting to see whatever tricks the writers have left up their sleeves.
