August marked the end of what has been a successful summer movie season off the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic which has plagued the film industry for the last 2+ years. Historically speaking, the month has been a dump month of sorts like January where the best of the rest for lack of a better word are released in the shadow of the bigger blockbusters of the front end of the summer or winter. That being said, some films still find a way to shine through in spite of what came before. Be it theatrical or streaming, this was certainly the case this past summer.
