Wicked Little Town is Riverdale's latest musical episode that might prove that this shtick needs to stop.

With the Stonewall Prep mystery wrapped up, the residents of Riverdale cannot catch a break as they get their next wave of creepy surveillance tapes. Cue the jump into the song Wicked Little Town from Hedwig and the Angry Itch, the musical for this year’s annual episode. Everyone breaks into song, including Jughead! Here’s what happened in “Wicked Little Town.”

So variety shows of season past have had the students come together for a cause, usually something life or death with a sociopath. Well this year did bring them together… to try to get one song kept in the variety show as Principal Honey continued to say no. That’s it, that’s the plot.

It doesn’t help that the songs seem out of place and the underlying relationship issues seem trivial. In fact, many of their attempts at uniting further cement Honey’s stance. The musical episodes are a fun idea for Riverdale and its universe, but they need to mean something. This take on Hedwig and the Angry Itch is just a filler episode that takes a break between murder mystery dramas in the town.

That’s it. I really wasn’t impressed with this episode. Not even a quarantine could keep my focus on it. Wish it had meaning in the story.  Only the ending left something worth returning to the rest of this season. Oh well…
