The Flash (7×08) The People V. Killer Frost Review

Synopsis: With Frost facing an unjust punishment for her past crimes, Caitlin goes to great lengths to save her sister; Barry’s efforts to protect Speed Force Nora lead to a shocking discovery. (IMDb)

Killer Frost  steps up to the plate this week to pay the time for all the crimes she has committed over the years. While the effort here was commendable, it could have been handled a different way. But more on that later!

Frost is on trial for most of the episode, and as the questioning commences, so does the ultimate punishment the prosecution hopes to give her–make her take Cisco’s meta cure. It’s a bit extreme, but Frost wants to take whatever is given to her in stride. She makes it clear that she doesn’t want Team Flash to interfere but Caitlin, Allegra, and Cisco don’t exactly listen.

Instead, they sneak into the CCPD to neutralize the inventory of the meta cure they had. They pull it off but barely considering Kramer ran into Allegra while she was snooping around. However, the next day at the trial, Kramer’s discovery over the neutralized meta cure and the hacked camera points fingers at Killer Frost once again. Of course, she is innocent in all of this so Caitlin confesses that the plan was all her idea.

Frost and Caitlin have an emotional conversation soon thereafter where Caitlin confesses she doesn’t want to let Frost go. She’s her sister, and the idea of her vanishing forever (since Frost is a born meta, giving her the cure would harm her or kill her) is making her miserable. On the other hand, Frost also speaks with Kramer who reveals that her Army unit lost lives because of a meta, which is why she’s so dead set on ridding the world of them.

In court, Frost takes the stand and asks the judge if she can be punished with life in prison, with no chance for parole. Kramer is totally against the idea, but Cecile puts her foot down and reminds Kramer that she herself only wanted Frost to be in a place where she couldn’t harm anyone. This seems like as good of an option as any. The judge gives Frost the punishment she asks for, and after painful and tearful goodbyes, Frost is led away.

Barry is elsewhere during this episode and busy following a series of seismic signatures that alluded to Fuerza’s return, aka the Strength Force. Iris ran the operation from S.T.A.R. Labs while Barry and Nora went to check things out in Keystone City. It leads them to Alexa Rivera (Sara Garcia) who was insistent that she was not a meta like they thought. After a lot of convincing, Alexa agrees to go back to the labs to do some testing, which triggers the Strength Force within her.

Barry tried to do his Barry thing by reassuring Alexa, but the Speed Force didn’t bother with any niceties and zapped Alexa with lighting. Her next blast was aimed towards Iris, but it was a ruse to get him to block it with his own powers. Her zap combined with his zap gave her all the power she needed to zap Alexa once again, but this time around, it appears she has killed her.

So, now the Speed Force has gone from annoying AF to violent AF? Interesting turnaround.
