Synopsis: The Flash enlists a host of speedster allies, including Iris and his children from the future – Bart and Nora-West Allen to end the speedster war and defeat a deadly new adversary: The villainous Godspeed. (IMDb)

The Flash season 7 finale is probably one of the strongest episodes the series has in a long time. And this is coming from the person who has been hating on the show for months now. We finally got an action-packed, emotional, and surprising hour of The Flash! Why it took so long to get here, but better late than never!

The finale reveals that who Godspeed is, and gives a bit more character to August Heart, and reveals that he is after organic speed. It’s not the best villain the series has had, but given that the episode was actually good, it’s forgivable. The whole Godspeed storyline finally wraps up in the finale as Barry learns of August Heart’s true intentions. Because August doesn’t have his memories, Barry had to go into his mind to learn about the man behind Godspeed.

Unfortunately, while the August/Godspeed arc seemed to be going somewhere when Barry went into his mind, it crashed and burned once he got his memories back. He went evil within seconds, and the whole redemption arc went out the window. In order to battle the Godspeed army, the Flash family, Barry, Iris, Nora, Bart, Jay Garrick, and Speed Force Nora come together. They manage to stop the clones, but they regain their strength because they’re able to siphon the energy from Speed Force Nora. Barry asks her to leave but in doing so, their backs are against the wall. Allegra shows up in the nick of time with the S.E.E. machine and zaps all of them out.

But there still remained the problem of August Heart, so Barry and Iris come up with an idea to bring back…Eobard Thawne. Honestly, it was nice to see Tom Cavanagh after missing him so much! Even Cisco is in this finale, so it truly felt like a Team Flash episode. Anyway, Speed Force Nora uses the Negative Speed Force with Iris as the go-between to get Thawne. Godspeed against The Flash and Thawne is absolutely amazing and it was great to see them battle it out. Eventually, it’s Thawne that drives a lightning dagger through Godspeed/August Heart, which is followed by him itching to kill Barry. Unfortunately for him, Barry has gotten faster and is able to escape his enemy’s clutches.

The whirlwind episode is topped with an emotional ending as Barry and Iris renew their vows in a beautiful ceremony. They did hijack Oliver and Felicity’s wedding way back when so Iris never did get a wedding of her own. The whole ceremony is beautiful, and it ends with Bart singing Jonah Muton’s “1949.” Fisher has an amazing voice is and it was nice that the writers decided to give him a moment to sing. Good move on their part!

It was a cute ending to a rather mediocre episode and to top it off, we got so much amazing action sans cheesy visual effects. We also learned more about Kristen Kramer and how she is actually a metahuman! Yes, a metahuman! And her powers are probably the coolest we’ve seen on the show in a while. She can mimic the power of any meta nearby which is why she can rescue Joe and speed off before the Godspeed clones can kill him.

It’s a cool revelation in what was a rather exciting episode! And with that, I hope we get more episodes like this in season 8! Fingers crossed!

Until next season!
