Canada Day Celebration

Happy Canada Day! Here’s a quick history lesson, Canada came to be on July 1st, 1867 and we celebrate this birthday every year during a day we as Canadians call Canada Day. This year is special as 2017 marks the 150th anniversary of Canada.

Classic Review: Room (2015)

Since I’ve started this site, I’ve written a lot of reviews. In case you missed some of my earlier ones, I would like to share an older review of “Room” which originally appeared here.

Carol and Room Spoofs

Because of the Oscars last night, I didn’t have time to talk about The Independent Spirit Awards which were last Saturday Night. For those who don’t know, The Independent Spirit Awards are an awards ceremony dedicated mostly to independent films. This year, they were hosted by Kate McKinnon of Saturday Night Live (whom I adore) and Kumail Nanjiani of Silicon Valley (whom I also adore). This post is not about the awards themselves, however, they are about a series of parody videos they made during the ceremony, one of Carol and the other for Room. I thought they were hilarious and I have shared both of them below for you to enjoy.

Better Than All The Rest (The Best Movies of 2015)

I hope you’ve figured out the inside joke.

With 2015 at an end, there’s no better time to take a look back at the films this year and pick 10 of the best (as many others have done). If you are curious, I already did so once before near the middle of the year. You can see for yourselves how many films from that list remain on this one. Just to make it fun/challenging for me, I have provided roughly 100-word reviews of each (of course links to full reviews will be provided). For those wondering why The Revenant and The Hateful Eight are not on this list, I will not be able to see them until 2016.

Room Review

Held captive for years in an enclosed space, Joy Newsome (Brie Larson) and her 5-year-old son Jack (Jacob Tremblay) finally gain their freedom from a man known only as Old Nick (Sean Bridgers), allowing the boy to experience the outside world for the first time alongside Joy’s mother and father (Joan Allen, William H. Macy) and her mother’s friend Doug (Matt Gordon).
