With the Templars captured, fortune seems to be favouring the French and the Church is doomed to their historical demise. However, the fictitious elements of the problems within the Royal Court could sway this war in the other side's favour. Philip's drive for revenge blinds him to the world around him which could spell his downfall in the climactic end to this season.

And it has come. The infamous Friday the 13th. Whether you are privy to the history of this event or not, nothing can prepare you for it. It opens with the Templars in chains being carted by the French to be tried for heresy. Here’s what went down in “Death Awaits.”

The Templars learn that Kelton gave up their false idol to the French which prompted these charges. King Philip heads this inquisition as he charges the Templars for their crimes. While he concludes that they will burn at the stake, including the Grand Master, this will happen after Philip is able to torture them for what Landry did to his wife.

This starts with the brutal mutilation of Tancrede in the hope of learning the location of the Templar gold, but he keeps his mouth shut. Philip decides his next best option is to taunt Landry into revealing something by talking of how he killed his own wife. Prince Louis overhears this detailed description, but somehow finds himself able to still be aligned with his murderous father.

During the Templars trial, Kelton returns and confessing to lying about his original statement, but Philip decides to encourage the crowd to rip him limb from limb. While the Templars are never going to give up the location of their gold, Philip decides it is time to have a barbecue.

Meanwhile, the Princess has decided to inform her father of Margaret’s sinful actions. Philip has all of Margaret’s hair cut off and thrown into a cell. Louis learns that his sister was to blame for this and her excuse is that Margaret said a few things she didn’t like.
