The Terror: Infamy (2×07) My Perfect World Review

An older man stands in a morgue shaving pieces of skin off a cadaver and sewing them onto the decaying body of Yuko. After sewing on a number of pieces, he stabs himself with a needle allowing Yuko to transfer her soul back into her own body. She sits down in a mirror to put some make-up on, looking at her newly Frankenstein-ed body. Here’s what went down in “My Perfect World.”

Chester sits by the water, avoiding his family, when Amy comes to check in on him. He wants a way to contact Luz, but she cannot be of help. Back in the real world, Luz is trying to readjust to life with her father. She is refusing to be set up with single men from their church when a letter comes to the door. Chester continues to try to get into contact with her, but her father is sick of it and takes the stack of envelopes away. At the camp, Chester receives a package that he believes is Luz, but it’s the letters that her father sent back. Chester tries to leave the camp to find Luz, but he is instantly detained by some of the soldiers. They decide to relocate him to another camp prompting a very cold goodbye with his “parents.”

However, problems start to arrive back at the camp when a lot of the people start getting deathly ill. During the night, Yuko breaks into Chester’s barracks and steals the letters deciding where she must go next. She is stopped by Major Bowen, but she possesses him as his contorted body starts walking off into the camp. En route to the new facility, Chester manages to convince the soldiers to stop for a bathroom break and uses it as a way to escape into a nearby river. The next morning, Amy comes to Major Bowen with concerns about the outbreak, but he is concerned with a potential evil spirit haunting the camp. That night, Ken tries to come to Bowen with a medical emergency, but he is paranoid about Yuko and what she wants with him. He pulls a gun and threatens Ken causing them to fight until he gets the upperhand on Bowen.

Luz goes out on a date with Julio and while he feels something, she just wants to go home. She notices something odd in a car and goes to investigate where she finds Chester. They drive to a secluded location to talk about everything that happened. She explains how their life died with their kids and she hurts whenever she looks at or thinks of him. She just wants a quiet, simple life, but he doesn’t believe that is her and asks if she could go anywhere, where would it be? At the camp, Amy goes to visit Bowen, but finds Ken at the door. He says something had to be done and that he will accept the consequences.

Amy decides to take action herself and call the local hospital to get ambulances for the sick kids when she is caught by one of the MPs. Bowen and Ken have a standoff over the ambulances causing Ken to almost shoot the Major. They are interrupted when Amy arrives with the MPs that caught her. She says that the ambulances are on the way, but they are in a lot of trouble for what they have done. Major Bowen tells the MPs to cuff Ken rather than kill him and Amy asks for leniency for him, Bowen sends the other men in to kill Ken. That night, he consoles Amy by telling her that Ken was a bad man preying on vulnerable women. He offers her a flower and seems very flirtatious with her, but she has a trick up her sleeve by recording the entire conversation!

As Luz packs her belongings to run away, Chester is receiving some startling news. He grabs his birth documents from the hospital, but discovers that he has a twin brother. Chester brings this information to Luz and finally has a reason for why he has always felt a piece of him missing. They travel to New Mexico where Luz is reacquainted with her Abuela (Alma Martinez) and her extended family. She goes to say goodbye to Chester, but offers for him to stay. Back at her house, her father is greeted by Yuko who possesses him, discovers the location of where they went and then stabs himself in the eye with the pen.
